Pre-Survey Scouting, Socialisation and Clearing

A complete and comprehensive pre-survey program includes:

An efficient and all encompassing socialisation program carried out by our onshore team to include local fishermen, as well as members of government fishing and marine departments – thus resulting in clear communications and understanding within all the affected fishing communities.

We cover all major and minor coastal ports and associated areas, to include all fishing vessels operating within the survey area and beyond, ensuring everyone is aware and in agreement with the proposed upcoming survey operation. This also extends to owner operated fishing crews, not just company associated members.

Onshore efforts are also bolstered offshore, with our chase vessel coordinators making sure all operating or transiting vessels are socialised, and notice to mariners (NTM) are comprehensively distributed.

Locating and recording the position of all fixed hazards, and removal if necessary, in accordance with survey vessel and client directives. Our chase vessel coordinators are extremely thorough, following a detailed scouting plan to ensure all potential hazards – both fixed and floating – are located, documented and reported. This is a vitally important component in the pre-survey phase, as it ensures accurate identification of all traps and FADs for any compensation claims, while safeguarding the survey area and making certain it is safe to enter and proceed with operations.

Acquisition and recording of bathymetric data, predominant weather patterns, as well as current and tidal movements in the area. By using the latest equipment and programs, our coordinators are able to accurately record vital depth soundings especially for areas in close proximity to shallow shoals and coastal turn corridors. All data is promptly transmitted to the party chief and navigation department onboard the seismic vessel, to assist in the planning and  establishment of safe access for all intended acquisition lines.

The reputation of our pre-survey scouting efforts is second to none, and vitally important to the successful outcome of any survey.
