VESSEL TRACKING SYSTEM (VTS)
As part of our ongoing efforts to add value and improve our services, SMS is pleased to offer a state-of-the-art vessel tracking system (VTS) and Fixed Hazard Updater for one or all participating vessels.
This online monitoring system can be optimised to best meet your requirements, giving you access to important information and the ability to better control and manage your vessels.
A small compact transmitter is fitted to the survey vessel and/or chase vessels as required, with its functions programmable remotely. Your ‘eye in the sky’ can provide position reports at intervals as short as 15 minutes up to 6-hour updates. Using the Iridium satellite phone system, we can achieve pole to pole global coverage.
REAL TIME FIXED HAZARD UPDATES
This new feature complements the vessel tracker, and gives instant updates on any fixed hazards located. With our newly designed software program, all freshly discovered fixed hazards can be viewed as they are plotted by our onboard team member.
All hazards are visible in real time; by simply clicking on the icon all the relevant information is at your fingertips. During pre-survey scouting this can be a valuable tool to help with planning; and during the acquisition phases of the survey it becomes vital information. It is also an important verification tool for any compensation disputes.
The monitoring software is available as both a basic website service, or a desktop application with more advanced features and accessibility. Viewable also via a Google Earth exporting feature, the VTS and Fixed Hazard Updater offers a range of features such as regular fixed hazard updates, an editable multi map display, multi user access, geofencing, alerts and alarms, playback and data archiving of up to six months.
